September is Pet Safety & Health Month. Here’s why you should care!
We love our pets to bits. For most of us, our pets are like our family; possibly dearer. And naturally all hell break lose, should they ever wander away or if something happens to them. Unfortunately, thousands of pets lose their homes every year because there was no way for their rescuers to contact their families.
Surprising fact, but most lost pets are found. Not necessarily by their families, but they’re found nonetheless. But unless they have their owner’s information on them – they’re often sent to fosters or shelters and put out for adoption. If they’re a pedigree, they’ll probably have many takers. Mutts often have fewer to none. Irrespective of the breed though, they go through extreme trauma and stress adjusting to changing people and homes, and so do you, longing for their return. Many pets are known to go into depression after such incidents.
All of this pain and stress can be avoided if your pet has a simple tag on him/her that can help someone to reach you, in case they find your furry family in distress. Your pet’s safety and health should not be ‘Optional’. #TAGYOURDOG, for their good!
